Unless you are in the mountains with al-qaeda or just returned from a six-year hiatus in outer-space, you have not only heard about steroids in baseball, but with the recent release of the Mitchell report, you probably have an opinion as to the truthfulness of the report.
In my opinion, eighty-percent of the players from the mid-90's to 2003, have done or continued to use performance-enhancing drugs. Regular people like you and I, have also used performance-enhancing drugs, we just are in denial or really dont understand what is "classified" as a PED! In my opinion, anything other than natural-food intake or a daily multi-vitamin taken into the body can constitute PED because all it has to do is enhance your performance, not increase body mass. The game will be stained for years to come.

I think baseball is just the start. I believe in the near future, the integrity of the sports arena is in jeopardy of being harmed due to the use of PEDs. Just as you noted, it started years ago and old habits die hard. It is very competitive and everyone wants to be a winner.
